Great day of training today. We got through pre-postop nurse 100. Just when out CTs think they've seen it all, they learn a new tip, trick, workflow, or functionality that they hadn't seen yet. It's actually pretty cool to watch this happen to them.
Today I saw Tammy begin to develop a strategy for how she will make her class her own. She really dove into this project. I feel our team is immensely fortunate to have two CTs who take initiative and ownership of their work.
I know this sounds cheesy, but I'm proud of how successful I know we're going to be.
Tomorrow we go to training on how to use our facility's internal education management software.
Afterwards we'll do some housekeeping by reviewing the course catalog for errors. It's due tomorrow at noon.
Then Tammy will have her first teach back!!! YAY!!!

Day 11 7:49am
Yesterday was awesome. I feel like we got so much accomplished with Brad teaching. And he did great. He felt that he looked at the book too much but he'll get the hang of it.
Today we're back to me teaching. Going to get through Pre/Post-op RN 100.
Go team!

Day 8 4:22pm
Training environment still down today. CTs hanging on. "Ridiculous" and "this sucks" were the reactions I got today regarding the continued downtime.
They tested the e-learnings in our hospital's education registration software today so that left them with some busy work.
My plan is to change the CT training schedule to accommodate these lost days. It's going to be a tight squeeze.
Hopefully we'll be back up by Friday. Happy Thanksgiving.

Day 7 9:37am
Training environment still down. IT estimating that it may be back up after lunch time. Very discouraging and frustrating losing 1.5 days of training.
Note to self: create back up plan in case this happens again.

Day 6 11:39am
Off to lunch. Still no training environment. I was at least able to update my lesson plans but my poor CTs are stuck watching the Epic DVD.
:(
:(
Day 6 9:53am
Server for the training environment has been down since about 5:00 this morning. So not much going on at the moment. Ugh

Day 5 8:45am
It's the end of week 1 and I'm so proud of my CTs!!!!
This morning Brad went to the OR unit meeting and represented Optime right! He emphasized to the staff the importance of watching their pre-requisites before they come to class and assured them they were in good hands. Go team, go!!

Day 4 over.
Big group meeting this afternoon was filled with educational paradigms. Life is good.

Day 4 11:22am
Trucking through the education video. It's actually much better the second time. It has a lot of good information and I keep catching Brad taking notes :)
So proud!.....Go team!!!

Day 4 6:59am
Today we'll be watching the exciting 8 hour saga Educating The Epic End-User DVD. Not the most entertaining but worth the watch anyway.

Day 3 10:21
Here we are in our home!!
In-class activities not going so well today. The OP Surgery Clerical Staff class gave us lots of issues when it was time to go through the flow of e-sig and scanning. Practicing basically shut down our computers for a good 25 minutes. That sucked. I'll definitely have to re-teach that class once it's fixed an I've added more lessons.
The SDS PCT class was much better though. Yay!!
Was able to grant them both access to a shared folder which will help eliminate printing (and save trees). Double yay!!

Day 2 over
Pretty good day overall.
There were issues with build stuff while I was training and that scared the CTs I think. They kept asking "what if this doesn't work when I'm teaching?" I assured them that it would by that time but I don't know how much that helped lol.
I have to say that CT training so far is going way better than I thought it would.
I'm going to work on remembering to blog more frequently during the day.
Day 3 tomorrow!! Go team!

Day 2 12:55
Forgot I was doing this until just now lol.
So we're back from lunch.
This morning we covered Surgery Scheduling 100...which went well. One glitch but no big deal really.
Now the plan is to go through PAT RN 100.
Everyone still here tho so that's a good sign I think :)

Day 1 4:38pm
Day 1 complete.
Usability went fairly well. Only got through pre-op, Intra-op, and PACU but got some feedback on those.
CTs seemed to have a better understanding of what they would be doing by the end of the day. Tammy was actually given the job description of a superuser so today was a bit overwhelming for her. But she fell in with the flow and seemed to be fine with the reality of what the job entails.
Tomorrow is our first day of actual training!! Go Optime!!

Day 1 9:56am
Time to leave CTs in the hands of our fearless leader. They will be with her until noon and we will re-group at 1:15 in our new home!!! Yay!!!
Day 1 8:46am
Everyone has introduced themselves, given some basic background information, and exposed the bare minimum of themselves. Debbie has begun reviewing the many spreadsheets she has so painstakingly built and maintained. CTs are confused
Day 1 9:16am
Everyone back from a 10 minute break. Had a very quick OpTime CT pow-wow and I think Tammy and Brad have gotten their heads cleared from the foggy cloud that spewed out into this small training room this morning.
Day 1 8:01am
CTs arrive bright eyed and bushy tailed. Neither of them have any idea what they are getting into. Their managers were clueless and so they have come here nervous and blind.
